Another World Cup and new beginnings

I've just finished watching France beat Paraguay at the World Cup and Paraguay trying to kick their way to a stalemate under the nose of the referee.  It reminded me of Uruguay v Scotland in 1986. Another disgraceful performance - that time by Uruguay.

Nothing is new. Despite the passage of time I feel I have been here before.

On that note, despite the passage of time, I thought it was time I should revise my occasional writing about the world around me after a 10 year gap.   It is a new beginning for me because I will shortly be entering the world of retirement and spending my time doing a range of new things. So I'll have more freedom to write.

I expect I'll write a lot about Trump, the latest series of The Traitors, Hearts progress or otherwise and my travels (if I go anywhere interesting).

The world has changed a lot. But I suspect the same themes are all on display even if we are trying to be extremely polarised about everything. A culture war is raging which we need like a hole in the head and I disagree with almost all of you about everything. In fact this blogging milarkey seems quite risky.  Let's see if I can avoid getting cancelled.
